When I heard that one of the children who attended the same daycare as my son had been diagnosed with a serious genetic illness, I started looking for ways to help.
Brynlee was diagnosed with mucopolysaccharidosis type 1, commonly referred to as Hurler syndrome. It is a very severe genetic disorder and requires many costly, painful procedures in order to treat it, including a bone marrow transplant. Brynlee is doing well so far, and we will be praying that the treatments are successful.
It turned out that in the chaos of dealing with the diagnosis, they hadn’t thought to have any family portraits made. It was a tremendous honor to be able to meet the Thompson family and to create some beautiful memories for them.
Friends of the family have been organizing a variety of fundraisers to help cover the cost of the treatments. If you would like more information, you can visit their page on Facebook. More photos from the session are available on Facebook.
