Brooks' First Birthday!

Tony made a trip up to Lookout Mountain recently to document a very special event. Brooks McKenna was turning One!

You may remember this sweet face from our Easter Session. The bunny was giving him a big kiss. The party had a whale theme, and Missy made everything come together beautifully.

I love the detail here.

The Lopez Family was nice enough to invite our little family to the party afterwards. We had a great time, and some amazing food.

Jackson Triplets' First Birthday

I feel very privileged to have had the opportunity to photograph the first birthday party of the Jackson triplets. It was a beautiful party, and the girls had a great time. I think the photos speak for themselves.

Thanks again to Amy and Chris for allowing me to be a part of their family's special events.

MCR Foundation Event (Follow Up)

DS2_8152

It was my great pleasure to be a part of the MCR Foundation’s “Love Your Body, a Celebration of Healthy Body Image & Positive Self Esteem” event on Thursday, February 25 at the Loose Cannon Gallery. The non-profit foundation works to raise awareness of eating disorders and unhealthy body image, particularly in school age children. This is a terrible problem among children today, and it’s a cause that I am very happy to be able to support.

I believe very strongly that we all have something beautiful about us, and the overwhelming message being sent my the media is the we’re not beautiful and we need to starve ourselves and buy their products in order to ‘fix’ our appearance. That this is done for the sole purpose of making a profit makes it all the worse.

The event featured a partial screening of the documentary America the Beautiful which explores the impact that marketing and super models has on the self-esteem of children. I highly recommend that anyone with young children watch it, and consider how to limit the impact of media on your child.

Images from the event can be viewed in this online gallery.
